Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Recognizes McNeese’s Lambda Upsilon Chapter
Lambda Upsilon, PIKE chapter at McNeese, was recognized and received the highly coveted Raymond L. Orians Excellence Award in Memphis, Tennessee on Friday July 29, 2011. The award was presented to the gentlemen of Pi Kappa Alpha at PIKE University, a national convention that was attended by over 350 men representing various colleges located across North America. This award is given to the top 40 chapters in the international Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, which consists of 227 Chapters. PIKE has been an active part of Greek life at McNeese for three short years and has been recognized as an official chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha for only eighteen months. These facts make Lambda Upsilon one of the youngest chapters to ever be placed among the most elite chapters in North America and to be awarded the Raymond L. Orians Excellence Award. Deil LaLande, president of the chapter, expects for the PIKE chapter at McNeese to win many more awards in the near future. “Our chapter focuses on being the best men we can be, while serving our campus and community. All 52 men in our chapter worked hard to receive this award and we plan to continue our efforts to win many more.” LaLande said. The men of PIKE’s Lambda Upsilon chapter are working hard to make this year’s events even more successful than last year, in hopes to accumulate many more national awards.
